My Wife and I toured with Tuna Tuna Tours Jan of 2023, and we had an absolute blast. We arrived at 08:30 as we had a two hour drive from... read more where we were staying. They were there already, we were able to get changed and headed out a little before 9. There was supposed to be another couple but they canceled at the last minute.

Our guide Stephanie (Sorry if I spelled it incorrectly) and Captain Juan Carlos were great. Stephanie is a Marine Biologist and explained the entire process from the fact that they are required to go and check in with the regulatory agency before they are allowed to even head over to the area. Then when you go over they're only allowed to have 14 boats in the area at a time. We were lucky there were only 3 other boats in that day. She also explained about whale sharks, how little we know about them and just some very interesting facts about them.

Then you begin looking for the whale shark, on the day we went in we had no problem finding multiple sharks. So we got into the water and started following one of them, then we wound up switching to a few different sharks. Normally you are only allowed to follow one whale shark as two boats are not allowed to follow one shark, but because there were so many sharks in the water there was no problem going from shark to shark at the direction of the guide.

You are only allowed to spend 30 minutes in the water with the shark, so after our 30 minutes we climbed back in the boat and headed over to one of the sea lion colonies. Stephanie again explained a lot about the sea lions and we were able to ask a lot of questions. We didn't go swimming with them because both my wife and I were a little cold. But Stephanie recommended we come down November or December and the sea lion pups are very playful and the water is very clear.

Then lastly we went to Balandera Beach, and we were provided a delicious lunch of Burritos, civiche and some chips and cookies with some soft drinks and some beer and water. The sand was so soft to walk on and it was nice and sunny the water was a little cool but you adapted to it very quickly, but the water was so clear. My wife and I basically had the entire beach to ourselves. We stayed at the beach for about an hour then headed back.

It was an amazing day we had a great time and got some good pictures as well.

If we come back to the area we would definitely go with Tuna Tuna again.

The sweet guide (I can't remember her name!) is very knowledgeable and very concerned with everyone's safety. She made sure everyone had a chance to get in the water and see the whale sharks. She and the captain even steered us out of the way from the other tourism boats to make sure we had access to view some sharks without bumping against other tour groups. WE had to cancel the second half of the day (sea lions etc.) because of the wind and we were refunded immediately with no hassle. Would recommend this group!
